cats

Our house is backed up to acres of woods where all the stray cats (plus the cats who have homes but like to hang out with the wild crowd) in the neighborhood like to roam. Damian has realized that he actually likes cats when (1) they don't belong to you, (2) they live strictly outside, and (3) they allegedly keep snakes away (so far that seems to be true). Our neighbor had been feeding these cats up until she moved away. Now Damian feeds the cats. Yes, Damian. The same Damian who almost took our cat, Danny, to the pound (but let's not go bringing up the past...) :) Anyway, I told him that he can feed them as long as he doesn't name them. I figure once you feed them and name them you're pretty much claiming them as your pets, right?

Here's a picture of six of Dame's ten cats. Clockwise around the bowl from the bottom left is Ginger, Boots, Blacky, Stripey, Spotty, and the one in the back is Bibs. Not pictured are: Minger, Socks, Grayie, and Spottie.

Louisa has this book called, "Millions of Cats" She happened to be looking over my shoulder when I checked your blog and she said, "is it Billions of cats?"

I remember reading that book as a kid! That's so funny --it really does seem like there are billions of cats. Last night the count increased to eleven. :\

who named these cats? the names spotty and spottie are pretty similar... someone lacks imagination. ;P

Uh, yeah... Dame named them all. Well, except for Bibs --I named him. Lack of imagination? Guess what his four fish were named? Spotty, Stripey, Spooky, and Ghostie (the white fish). He's the WORST at naming things. I'm just glad our kids aren't named Spotty and Stripey. And last night an eleventh cat showed up that looks like the two Spotties so now we have three cats named Spottie/y.
